HOPVILLE, SC – Seven students and two adults on board a school bus sustained minor injuries in a collision involving a fuel tanker truck last Thursday, August 14.
The school bus and tanker truck collided in the afternoon on Sumter Highway, according to WBTV. The impact of the crash left the bus wedged underneath the truck, and it was left with significant front-end damage. The tanker truck was unoccupied at the time of the crash.
The seven students and two adults were taken to the hospital.
South Carolina Highway Patrol confirmed the bus is affiliated with Lee County Middle School. Troopers said they believe more than 30 students were on board the bus.
At this time, school officials have not released a formal statement regarding the specifics of this crash, and troopers have not announced any charges.
