GREENVILLE COUNTY, SC — A 55-year-old driver died Tuesday after their box truck struck a stationary 18-wheeler on U.S. Highway 25 in Travelers Rest, reports FOX Carolina.
The accident happened near State Park Road and was first reported by FOX Carolina at 7:40 a.m.
A preliminary investigation found that the victim, Debra Jean Datko, was driving a box truck that collided with a stopped big rig.
Datko, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the impact, was pronounced deceased by paramedics at the scene. The coroner indicated that the victim died of blunt force injuries and reported the manner of death to be accidental.
No other injuries were reported following the event.
