1 hospitalized after overturned trash truck hits poles in Conway

CONWAY, SC – One person was sent to the hospital and thousands of residents were without power after an overturned trash truck collided with electric poles Monday.

This crash happened after 2:30 p.m. in the area of Juniper Bay Road and Delayna Court, according to The Sun News. Horry Electric and Horry County Fire Rescue crews said more than 1,400 people were without power until almost 4 p.m., and that number then reduced to approximately just over 1,100 people by 3:47 p.m.

At the time of the reporting, crews were said to have taken about four hours to restore the power.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol launched an investigation and has not released other information.
