1 hospitalized after big rig rear-ends trailer in Bowman 

BOWMAN, SC – One person was airlifted to a hospital after a big rig rear-ended a trailer filled with horses on I-26 Wednesday.

South Carolina Highway Patrol told Live5News that the person was airlifted to the Medical University of South Carolina. First responders did not disclose the physical condition of this individual or specify which vehicle they were operating but said they were sent to this hospital for precautionary measures. The horses appeared to have been unharmed.

Troopers and crews shut down the area for several hours and reopened the north and southbound lanes just before 10 p.m.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the contributing factors behind the rear-end collision.
