LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC — A collision involving a tractor-trailer early Thursday near west South Congaree has claimed the life of one person, according to WACH FOX 57.
The accident happened on a stretch of Platt Springs Road near Winchester Drive, at about 4:25 a.m.
Authorities said a driver in a 2023 18-wheeler collided with a westbound 1997 GMC SUV while making a left turn onto Platt Springs Road.
The Lexington County Coroner’s Office was called to the scene, where the driver of the SUV was pronounced deceased.
It’s unclear at this time which driver was at fault in the crash, but an investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol remains underway.
