AIKEN COUNTY, SC — One person was killed Friday morning due a multi-vehicle collision in Aiken that left five others hospitalized, according to Aiken Standard.
The accident happened on Hitchcock Parkway at Northwood Drive, prompting an emergency response some time after 10:22 a.m.
South Carolina Highway Patrol officials say the victim was driving a 2010 Honda Civic on Hitchcock Parkway when they veered past the center line, causing the car to collide with an oncoming 2016 Dodge Ram marked as a Aiken County ambulance, and then a 2024 GMC Yukon.
Aiken County Coroner Darryl Ables pronounced the driver of the Honda, local resident Isaiah Johnson, deceased at the scene.
The ambulance’s three occupants, a patient, an attendant, and the driver, were all transported to an area hospital, along with two people from the GMC Yukon. Officials have not released any information about the severity of their conditions.
Part of Hitchcock Parkway was shut down during the response and investigation, which remains underway with the Highway Patrol and the Aiken County Coroner’s Office.
