DAYTON, OH – One person is dead following a collision on I-75 involving a work van, a work truck, and two semi-trucks.
WHIO reports that the crash happened just before 11 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the interstate past Second Street.
Police are still unclear on what exactly happened, although eyewitnesses say they believe the van passed between the two semi-trucks, setting off a chain-reaction crash that shut down traffic for the next five hours. A passerby in the southbound lanes said the backup extended all the way to the Dayton Mall exit.
The driver of the van died in the crash. It does not appear as though anyone else was injured.
