Winston-Salem PD shuts down I-40 West due to big rig wreck 

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – Winston-Salem Police and crews had to shut down I-40 West t along NC 109 due to a big rig rollover collision on Thursday.

MYFOX8 said this collision happened underneath the interstate bridge along the NC 109 connector (Exit 195). The aftermath resulted in heavy traffic seen between mileposts 190 and 201. During these closures, drivers were asked to take U.S. 421 North as crews worked to clear the scene and officers pursued their investigation.

At this time it is not immediately apparent as to whether anyone was injured or hospitalized. Since the investigation is in its early stages, authorities have not been able to confirm the exact cause of this crash. Any new information will be added as our newsroom learns more.
