Trash truck hits traffic light in Cary, causing damaged signals

CARY, NC – A driver of a trash truck did not lower their truck bed, which led them to collide with some traffic signals off Highway 55, damaging those signals Monday.

This crash happened near McCrimmon Parkway, according to CBS 17. Camry Police claim that the driver “negligently failed to lower it” and at the time of the collision, had redirected commuters to other routes to accommodate the repair process, conducted by  Town of Cary and Duke Energy, for the screen clearance and investigation.

Crews had closed the area of Good Hope Church Road to Morrisville Carpenter Road (leaving one lane open) and later lifted closures.

At this time, it is unclear if anyone was injured or if anyone needed to go to the hospital.

Updates will be added if new developments surface.
