NEAR SMITHFIELD, NC – A driver and passenger of a moving truck managed to escape injuries when their vehicle overturned on I-40 Tuesday.
This collision happened before 2 p.m. near Exit 320 which leads to North Carolina Highway 210, WRAL reports. The aftermath of this wreck showed the front portion of the Miracle Movers truck with significant damage, especially to the front and a missing tire.
Due to the nature of this collision, emergency workers had to shut down the westbound lanes for several hours for the cleanup procedure and investigation. By 3:30 p.m. first responders reopened at least one lane just as crews were in the process of stabilizing the vehicle and removing it from site. During closures, commuters were asked to take N.C Highway 50 as an alternative route.
