Drivers hospitalized after semi, trash truck crash in Fayetteville

FAYETTEVILLE, NC – Two Cape Fear Valley ambulances took a semi-truck and a trash truck (from Waste Management) driver to a hospital after their vehicles collided Friday.

CBS 17 said this crash happened around 7:30 a.m. at the South Raeford Road and I-295 intersection. The Fayetteville Fire Department said the impact of this crash led the semi to roll over and land on its side. As a result, fire crews had to extricate the semi-driver, and he was freed just before 8 a.m.

For the time being, fire crews and police closed westbound Raeford to accommodate the scene clearance and investigation process. Amid the closures, they advised drivers to take I-295 North instead.

First responders did not confirm which driver was at fault, how the collision was brought on, or specified the severity of injuries sustained in this collision. In addition, they did not say when all lanes reopened and when the scene cleared. These details will be posted as more information comes to light.
