Driver injured when train hits cement truck near State Ports in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC – The driver of a cement truck is in the hospital after their vehicle was struck by a train near the State Ports on Monday morning, WECT reports.

The Wilmington Fire Department rushed to State Ports North Gate shortly before 8 a.m. on August 25. There, crews found the driver pinned inside their vehicle. They extricated the driver, who was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A spokesperson with the North Carolina Ports said the incident closed the area around the North Gate and that all commercial traffic had to be rerouted to the South Gate.
