ROBESON CO., NC – A multi-truck crash occurred in Robeson County, North Carolina, resulting in one person being seriously injured.
According to WPDE, he incident took place around 7 a.m. when a semi-truck carrying logs was attempting a legal U-turn to head east on Highway 74 but failed to yield the right of way.
A second tractor-trailer carrying lumber collided with the overhanging logs, veering off the road and striking a third vehicle, a Chevy truck pulling an enclosed trailer. The impact caused the trailer to detach and both vehicles caught fire, while the Chevy truck remained in the travel lane.
First responders, including nearly a dozen fire trucks, rushed to the scene. The most severely injured individual was the driver of the second tractor-trailer, a woman who was taken to UNC Health Southeastern by EMS and then airlifted to New Hanover Regional Hospital in Wilmington.
