At Least One Dead After Accident Involving Tractor-Trailer in North Carolina

FAYETTEVILLE, NC – A multi-vehicle collision on I-95 involving a tractor-trailer and a dump truck killed at least one person Monday morning, ABC11 reports.

The collision occurred at mile marker 53 on northbound I-95 around 6:30 am. The dump truck was parked in the breakdown lane with a service truck nearby when the tractor-trailer sideswiped both vehicles and rear-ended the dump truck.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the dump truck was taken to Cape Fear Valley Hospital with serious injuries.

The semi-truck driver has been charged with failure to maintain lanes and death by motor vehicle. Other charges may be added pending further investigation.
