SANDY CREEK, NC – Two drivers were injured in a T-bone collision that happened at the intersection of NC 87 and Sandy Hill Road Tuesday night.
The events unraveled after 11 p.m. when the driver of a pickup truck tried to turn left from Sandy Hill onto NC 87 and T-boned the on-coming semi-truck, WFMYNews2 reports.
North Carolina State Highway Patrol said the semi-truck was hauling live turkeys and coming from Prestage Farms at the time of the crash. The semi-truck driver was left with unspecified injuries, and the pickup truck driver with critical, life-threatening injuries. The turkeys’ physical conditions were not disclosed.
Troopers have not confirmed if they cited the pickup truck driver or said if criminal charges are likely to be filed against them.
