1 killed, another hurt in multi-vehicle wreck with semi in Mooresville 

MOORESVILLE, NC – A 27-year-old man lost his life, and a Volvo tractor-trailer was injured after a three-vehicle collision on I-77 Wednesday. 

WFMY News 2 said the 27-year-old man appeared to have been speeding, which caused him to lose control of his 2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse and then struck the semi-truck. Moments later, the truck then crashed into a 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe. 

The 27-year-old man was pronounced deceased at the scene, and the Volvo truck driver sustained minor injuries, while the Chevrolet motorist was unharmed. 

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol has identified the victim as Jared Quincey Nelson. Troopers started an investigation. No other details have been released.
