1 dead, 2 hospitalized after Morganton left-turn crash with trash truck

MORGANTON, NC – A driver of a Chrysler 300 turned left when he collided with a trash truck, claiming his life and sending his passenger and the other driver to a hospital.

This collision took place on Sunday off U.S. 64 and Fisher Davis Road, according to WBTV. North Carolina State Highway Patrol said the Chrysler driver, later identified as Danny Scott, 64, had plowed into the large truck while it was traveling west on the highway.

Upon arrival, ambulance personnel declared Scott deceased at the crash site and then rushed Scott’s passenger and the truck driver to UNC Health Blue Ridge. There, the truck motorist is undergoing treatment for minor wounds, and the passenger for serious injuries.

While the contributing factors are being determined, troopers have been able to confirm that speed and intoxication did not play a role in this deadly wreck.
