SHERBURNE, NY – A woman died in a snowy head-on collision with a semi-truck on State Route 12b last Friday, NEWS Channel 2 reports.
According to the New York State Police, the collision occurred during a snow squall around 1:43 pm. The semi truck driver, 57-year-old Jacob F. Relyea, lost control of his vehicle and swerved into oncoming traffic, hitting a passenger vehicle head-on.
The driver of the passenger vehicle, 32-year-old Danica R. Jones of Earlville, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Responding officers performed a field sobriety test on Relyea and found no signs of impairment. He received multiple tickets for vehicle and traffic law violations.
The accident remains under investigation.
