Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run crash involving semi-truck in Brooklyn

BROOKLYN, NY – A pedestrian lost her life to a hit-and-run crash caused by a semi-truck driver in the Crown Heights neighborhood on Friday, ABC7NY reports.

The truck driver struck the woman just before 5:30 a.m. as she was walking on Eastern Parkway. Preliminary details suggest the woman was crossing on a green light when she was hit by the truck.

According to eyewitnesses, the truck driver may not have seen the woman, someone they described as a person who would often beg passersby in the community for money.

Police are actively working to locate the truck operator and their vehicle. At this time, they have not released the woman’s name.
