Driver dead, child injured in box truck collision in Ontario Co., NY

CANANDAIGUA, NY – The driver of a box truck died in a collision with an SUV that also sent a child to the hospital, WHAM reports.

The collision happened at about 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, August 27.

A box truck traveling west on US-20/NY-5 collided with an SUV headed north on Hickox Road. The force of the collision sent the box truck careening of the road, where it became wrapped around a utility pole.

The truck’s driver and sole occupant was pronounced dead at the scene.

A child who was a passenger in the SUV was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester with a potential shoulder injury. The SUV’s driver was unhurt.

We do not know what caused the collision at this time.
