CANTON, MS – A 40-year-old woman died, and a 70-year-old adult was hospitalized after a crash between a 1993 Peterbilt truck and a Nissan Altima car last Saturday, Feb. 8.
Mississippi Highway Patrol told WIJTV that the events unraveled around 5 p.m. when the semi-truck driver had struck the car while driving on MS 16 near Ratliff Road. No significant damage appeared to have been done to the truck carrying farm equipment, and the driver was spared from injuries.
The Nissan driver, the 40-year-old woman, perished at the scene, and EMS crews took the 70-year-old adult, the passenger, to Baptist Medical Center in Carthage. The motorist has been identified as Ashley Stephens from Carthage.
