COPIAH COUNTY, MS — A man was airlifted to a hospital Monday evening after a log truck overturned on Mississippi State Highway 27 near northwest Georgetown, according to WLBT.
The accident took place on a stretch of MS-27 at Brushy Creek Road, in an area southeast of Crystal Springs.
Local officials said the victim, Brookhaven resident Stanton Hux, 48, was traveling southbound in a log truck. At one point, for reasons still being investigated, the truck hit a tree, which caused the vehicle to roll onto the shoulder.
While first responders arrived on the scene to find Hux conscious and alert, he was taken by medical helicopter to Jackson’s UMMC for unspecified injuries.
No other injuries were reported, and no other occupants or vehicles appear to have been involved.
