RANKIN COUNTY, MS — A span of Old Fannin Road in northeast Flowood was shut down Wednesday following a dump truck crash, according to WJTV.
The accident forced the closure of both northbound and southbound Old Fannin Road between McLaurin Drive and Flowood Drive.
Preliminary details indicate a dump truck crashed and made contact with power lines along the stretch of the roadway, but officials have not released any other information with regards to the circumstances of the event or potential injuries.
Both Flowood Police and Rankin County deputies were at the scene re-routing traffic from the immediate scene. Motorists were adivsed to take Hugh Ward Boulevard or Grants Ferry Road to get onto Spillway Road.
Area Entergy customers were warned they could lose power as crews anticipated that they would need eight hours to repair the toppled power lines.
