CHESTER COUNTY, SC — Authorities responded to an injury collision involving a van and semi-truck Tuesday afternoon near Richburg, according to Queen City News.
The accident happened at the intersection of State Highway 901 and Old Mill Road at around 3:40 p.m.
South Carolina Highway Patrol officials said a 1998 Peterbilt tractor-trailer was transporting a bulldozer and traveling southbound on SC-901. A 2012 Chevy van was eastbound on Old Mill Road when they stopped and waited to turn left. Preliminary details indicate the driver of the van failed to yield the right of way at the traffic sign, causing the van to strike the semi. The impact sent the van off the roadway and into a brick wall.
While the truck driver was not reported hurt, the van driver was transported to an area facility for minor injuries.
The SCHP said the van driver is expected to be charged for “failure to yield to the right of way.”
