Driver hospitalized after tanker truck fire, explosion in Pearl River Co.

PEARL RIVER CO., MS – A truck driver was sent to the hospital following a tanker-truck fire and subsequent explosion near Poplarville on Monday.

According to WLOX, the truck caught fire around the 28 mile marker of I-59 near Highway 26.

Witnesses reported seeing the driver attempt to extinguish the flames before jumping in another vehicle to escape before the propane tanks exploded. He was then transported to a local hospital with unspecified injuries.
