Driver dies after truck crashes off I-10 in SW Harrison County

HARRISON COUNTY, MS — A 72-year-old man from Louisiana died Wednesday morning, December 6, after his pickup truck crashed off Interstate 10 near Long Beach, reports SunHerald.

Local officials said the collision took place on the overpass near County Farm Road.

The events leading up to the wreck have not been disclosed, but preliminary details indicate the victim, Ted Weaver, of Lafitte Parish, Louisiana, suffered a medical emergency while behind the wheel of a pickup truck. Multiple callers reported his erratic driving prior to the crash.

At one point, the pickup drove off the overpass and landed head-on to the south side of County Farm Road below.

Weaver, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the wreck, was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Harrison County Coroner.

Of the two dogs who were traveling with him, only one survived and was taken to an emergency vet.
