Driver, 13-year-old child killed in minivan vs dump truck crash near Saucier

HARRISON COUNTY, MS — Two people, including a 13-year-old child, died Thursday morning due to a crash involving a dump truck on U.S. Highway 49 near south Saucier, according to WKRG.

The accident happened at the intersection with Nobles Road, prompting a response from Mississippi Highway Patrol troopers and first responders shortly after 8:00 a.m.

Preliminary details show that a Saucier man, 29, was operating a 1998 Freightliner dump truck southbound on the highway when it collided with a minivan traveling across the intersection from Nobles Road.

The minivan’s two occupants, the 68-year-old male driver and his 13-year-old passenger, succumbed to their injuries at the scene, confirmed officials.

An investigation by the MHP remains open and ongoing.
