Crash involving log truck, school bus in Perry Co. injures 2 children

PERRY CO., MS – A log truck driver is facing a number of charges after a collision involving a school bus near New Augusta left two children injured last Tuesday.

According to Dark Horse Press, the school bus stopped to let children off on Highway 29 at about 3 p.m. when it was hit by the log truck.

Troopers say two children suffered mild to moderate injuries as a result of the crash. No updates on thier conditions are available a this time.

The truck driver, later identified as Wesley Turner, is facing charges of aggravated assault (injuring a child entering or exiting a school bus – Nathan’s Law), reckless driving, expired tag and leaving the scene of an accident with injuries.
