21 left hurt following 20-vehicle wreck involving semi on US-84 in Jones County

JONES COUNTY, MS — A collision involving a semi, a log truck, and at least 18 other vehicles Wednesday morning in Jones County left 21 people injured, reports WSFA.

The multi-vehicle accident happened at about 6:30 a.m., prompting a response from the Jones County Sheriff’s Office and the Jones County Emergency Operations.

While the cause of the wreck has not been specified, officials said the log truck overturned.

The incident was initially reported as a “mass casualty” event, but officials later confirmed no fatalities. 10 people were taken by ambulance to an area hospital, while at least nine others who declined transport were triaged by EMS personnel.

An investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol remains underway.
