1 killed, 1 hospitalized after semi, pickup truck wreck in Star 

STAR, MS – A 26-year-old man driving a 2019 Dodge Ram crashed into a semi-truck, which claimed his life and sent his passenger to a hospital Monday. 

This collision happened just before 7:30 a.m. on  U.S. 49 North close to Star Road, according to Darkhorse Press. Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) declared the 26-year-old man, Joseph Cook, dead at the scene. 

A medical helicopter, which was also summoned to the scene, took the pickup truck passenger to UMMC in Jackson for unspecified injuries. 

Troopers did not say if the 2022 International semi-truck was damaged, although they confirmed the semi-driver was unharmed. 

MHP started an investigation and has not released additional details at this time.
