SALINE TWP, MI – Two men are dead and two women are in the hospital following a multi-vehicle collision involving a big rig on Friday evening, The Detroit News reports.
Authorities say the crash happened near Michigan Avenue and Willow Road at about 7:30 p.m. on November 7.
A 56-year-old man from Brooklyn was driving a 2012 Dodge Ram westbound on Michigan Ave. when he attempted to pass a 2024 Volvo semi-truck. While in the oncoming lanes, the Ram hit an eastbound 2012 Jeep Cherokee, which subsequently ran off the road.
The Ram subsequently struck the side of the semi-truck, bounced off it, and collided head-on with an eastbound 2016 Chevrolet Silverado, ejecting its driver, a 43-year-old man from Osseo.
The Ram’s driver and the Silverado’s driver were both declared dead at the scene. An occupant of the Silverado was taken to University of Michigan Hospital by helicopter. She has been identified only as a 46-year-old woman, also from Osseo.
The Cherokee’s driver, a 36-year-old woman, suffered critical injuries. Her two children, who were with her in the car at the time, suffered only minor injuries.
The semi-truck’s driver was not hurt.
