Man, 65, killed as truck hits poles, overturns in Morgan City

MORGAN CITY, LA – A truck driver, a 65-year-old Golden Meadow man, crashed into an embankment and some poles, chasing the truck to overturn and claimed his life Friday.

This solo-truck collision occurred after 1 p.m. on Highway 182 East near Progress Lane, according to WAFB. The impact of this crash caused the driver, later identified as Russ Theriot, to perish at the crash site.

Louisiana State Police launched an investigation, and said it’s too early to pinpoint the contributing factors, but were able to confirm that Theriot wore his seatbelt at the time of the wreckage.
