1 charged, 2 hurt in semi crash on I-74 near IL-6 in Peoria

PEORIA, IL – Two people sustained injuries Thursday in a two-vehicle collision involving an 18-wheeler along the interstate in Peoria County, Illinois.

According to 25 News Now, the accident occurred at night on the westbound side of I-74, or the Everett McKinley Dirksen Memorial Highway, near IL-6 and I-474 in the city of Peoria.

The initial investigation indicates that the driver of a car was likely speeding when they made an improper U-turn, entered the wrong side of the interstate, and collided with a semi-truck.

Medics transported two people to area hospitals with injuries of unknown severity.

Authorities issued multiple citations to the driver of the car.

The investigation is ongoing.
