DEKALB COUNTY, GA — One person died Friday morning following a semi-truck accident on Interstate 285 near southeast Atlanta, according to to Atlanta News First.
The fatal collision was reported on the eastbound lanes of I-285 past I-675, northeast of Ellenwood. It was first reported some time before 8:51 a.m.
An investigation into the circumstances of the wreck remain in progress, but officials indicated that the big rig was initially traveling on a smaller roadway when it collided with the guardrail. The vehicle then rolled down a hill and onto a section of I-285.
First responders pronounced the driver deceased at the scene, confirmed officials.
No other vehicles or occupants appear to have been involved.
Part of the eastbound interstate was shut down during the emergency response and investigation, which remains underway.
