Tractor-trailer fire closes part of I-10 WB in west Atlanta

ATLANTA, GA — Crews responded to a big rig fire Tuesday night, December 12, on Interstate 20 in west Atlanta, according to FOX 5 Atlanta.

The incident occurred on the westbound highway at Fulton Industrial Boulevard (Exit 49), prompting a full closure shortly before 6:00 p.m.

As of this writing, local officials have not said whether a crash or mechanical failure led up to the blaze but workers at the scene were observed having to cut open the trailer’s top.

In addition to the closure of the westbound lanes, eastbound traffic was also impacted by delays, as well as Fulton Industrial Boulevard in both directions.

At the time of FOX 5 Atlanta’s 10:27 p.m. update, all lanes had reopened to traffic.

No significant injuries have been confirmed at this time.
