MARIETTA, GA – A 36-year-old male tractor-trailer driver lost his life to a hit-and-run collision that happened on the South Marietta Parkway off-ramp leading to I-75 on Wednesday.
Local police told 11Alive that the events unfolded around 2:30 a.m. when the 36-year-old man, identified as Terrell Lowdermilk, from Chattanooga, had crashed into another tractor-trailer.
Lowdermilk pulled over onto the shoulder to exchange information with the other driver and inspect for damage. As the two truck drivers spoke, a suspect driving what seemed to be a 2019-2022 Chevrolet Silverado truck had hit Lowedermilk. The pickup truck driver did not render aid and immediately fled the scene.
Lowdermilk succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Police shut down the area for two hours for the investigation period. Anyone with more information about the crash is asked to contact authorities immediately.
