Tailgater causes multi-auto crash with semi in Acworth

ACWORTH, GA – An SUV driver was tailgating a pickup truck before striking a big rig, which caused the tractor-trailer to then sideswipe the pickup and crash into a ditch Thursday.

After the SUV driver had tailgated the pickup truck on a left lane I-75, they then merged into a different lane, which then led to the collision with the large truck, Atlanta First News reports.

The impact of this wreck caused the SUV to strike the semi-truck’s cab and spin out of control prior to the accident with the pickup.

All three vehicles were damaged. However, despite the nature of this collision, all occupants were spared from physical harm.

Georgia Department of Public Safety’s Highway Patrol division responded to the scene and cited the SUV driver for following too closely and failing to maintain a lane.
