ATLANTA, GA – A semi-truck carrying thousands of pounds of cheese collided with a fire engine in southeast Atlanta on Wednesday, July 5th, leaving at least 4 people injured.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, fire crews were responding to a vehicle fire on I-285 near Jonesboro Road at about 12:45 a.m. when their truck was side-swiped by the semi.
Three firefighters were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The other driver involved refused treatment for minor injuries at the scene. They were ultimately cited for failing to obey to authorized persons directing traffic.
All eastbound lanes of I-285 were shut down while crews worked to clear the initial fire as well as debris from the crash.
