Man killed in motorcycle vs. trash truck crash in Sharpsburg

SHARPSBURG, GA – A 19-year-old male motorcyclist was killed in a head-on crash involving a trash truck Wednesday, Fox5Atlanta reports.

The events unfolded after 1 p.m. when the motorcyclist, who was going east on Tope Road, had crossed the center line while negotiating a curve. Moments later, he crashed into the trash truck head-on. Georgia State Patrol said the trash truck driver was also approaching a left-and curve prior to the collision.

The motorcyclist was left in serious condition and transported to Newnan Piedmont Hospital, where he died. He has since been identified as Seth Wingo from Newnan.

The truck driver appeared to be uninjured and was identified as 29-year-old Devron Trott from Peachtree City. Trott was driving with an expired medical card, which meant he wasn’t allowed to operate a commercial truck. For that reason, troopers cited him.

GSP is continuing to investigate the details behind the collision.
