Injuries reported in fiery train, tractor-trailer collision in South Fulton

SOUTH FULTON, GA – A fiery collision which involved a train and a tractor-trailer left four people with a variety of injuries Wednesday, WRDW reports.

The train had collided with the big rig hauling a trash truck in the area of Stonewall Tell Road and Westbrook Road just before 2:30 p.m. The impact had caused the train to catch on fire, warranting a response from Union City Fire & Emergency Services and South Fulton fire crews.

Local police were also called to the scene and said the impact of the crash had caused the truck driver to be thrown from their vehicle. The truck passenger was also injured.

The truck driver was an occupant who was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital by Grady EMS and seemed to be the only hospitalized individual.

The truck passenger sustained minor injuries. While unconfirmed, it appears as though the train conductor and engineer also suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials are continuing to investigate the details behind the serious crash and have not announced any charges at this time.
