ECSO investigates car, big rig crash in Newington 

NEWINGTON, GA – The Effingham County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the circumstances behind a crash between a big rig and a car Monday. 

The department’s traffic unit team announced this crash at 6:18 p.m., stating it took place at the intersection of Highway 21 and Oliver Kildare Road. Due to the severity of this wreck, crews were left with no choice but to close off the area for the scene clearance and investigation period. 

Authorities have not confirmed the contributing factors behind this wreck, said if anyone was injured or hospitalized, or indicated any pending criminal charges.
