LAVONIA, GA – A wrong-way crash involving a semi-truck near the Georgia, South Carolina boarder claimed the life of one person late last month.
According to Fox Carolina, the crash occurred shortly after 4 a.m. on June 27th when a Jeep traveling south in the northbound lanes of I-85 just outside of Lavonia slammed head-on into the northbound semi.
Debris from the crash flew into a tanker truck that was also heading north on the interstate. The driver suffered serious injuries and was transported to AnMed Health Medical Center in Anderson.
The Jeep’s driver, 41-year-old Devin James Eastman of Naples, Florida, was pronounced dead at the crash site.
It is unclear if the drier of the semi suffered injuries in the crash.
