Driver hospitalized after big rig hits parked semi-truck in Macon 

MACON, GA – A big rig driver was transported to Atrium Health Navicent after colliding with a parked semi-truck on I-75 South Friday.

The collision happened around 6 a.m. along Sardis Church Road, 13WMAZ reports. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Department of Transportation both responded to the scene and shut down the area. Deputies redirected traffic.

All lanes were expected to reopen by 10:30 a.m. However, the area continued to remain blocked.

It’s unclear if the parked semi-truck was occupied at the time of the crash.

Officials have not disclosed the injured truck driver’s current physical condition or announced any charges at this time.
