Driver dies after two-truck crash on GA-45 in Miller County

MILLER COUNTY, GA — A crash involving two pickup trucks Saturday, December 23, in southeast Colquitt claimed a driver’s life, according to WALB.

Georgia State Patrol officials say the accident occurred on a stretch of State Route 45 at Helms Road.

An early investigation shows a Toyota Tundra pickup truck was heading northbound on GA-45 at the same time a Dodge Ram pickup truck was traveling southbound. As both vehicles approached the intersection around a curve, the Tundra appeared to veer out from its lane and past the center line before striking the Dodge’s front-left side.

The impact of the crash sent the Ram spinning, and both vehicles ultimately came to a rest without rolling or overturning.

Shortly after troopers arrived on the scene, the driver of the Tundra was pronounced deceased, confirmed officials.

An investigation into the circumstances of the accident remains in progress.
