PORT WENTWORTH, GA – A BMW driver lost her life following a hit-and-run collision involving a log truck that happened along the International Paper Mill Monday.
Georgia State Patrol told WTOC that the driver of the white BMW X7 struck a log truck as it was turning left into the International Paper Mill off GA 25. The force of the collision caused the BMW to drift off the road and crash into a tree.
The log truck driver had then left the scene to unload logs.
EMS crews arrived at the scene and transported the BMW driver to a hospital in Savannah. She was initially left in critical condition and later died from her injuries. She has since been identified as 62-year-old Kelly Sullivan.
GSP has not yet located the log truck driver or has a description of them at this time.
