3 tractor-trailers involved in crash on I-16 WB near Bloomingdale

EFFINGHAM COUNTY, GA — Three big rigs were involved in a multi-vehicle wreck Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 16 near west Bloomingdale, reports WTOC 11.

The collision took place on the westbound interstate (GA-404) at mile marker 149, before Old River Road.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, a driver in a pickup truck with an attached trailer made an unsafe lane change while in slow traffic, prompting a driver in a tractor-trailer to slam on their brakes. Moments later, the big rig struck the trailer of the pickup, causing a chain-reaction collision that involved two other big rigs and an SUV.

Despite the multi-vehicle incident, no serious injuries or hospitalizations were reported.

Officials have also not indicated any pending charges at this time.
