3 hospitalized after big rig overturns in Hartwell multi-auto crash

HARTWELL, GA – Two tractor-trailer drivers and one pickup truck operator were hospitalized after a three-vehicle crash that caused one of the big rigs to overturn Sunday.

The wreck happened before 6 a.m., according to WYFF4. The pickup truck driver failed to maintain a lane on westbound Royston Highway and struck an eastbound tractor-trailer. That tractor-trailer was thrust into the median and hit another semi-truck. The impact caused the second big rig to flip over.

All occupants were taken to Anmed Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening wounds.

Crews shut down Royston Highway for the standard scene clearance procedure. Georgia State Patrol is leading the investigation and has not shared additional information, including whether the pickup truck driver was cited.
