2 dead, 2 left injured after SUV vs. semi collision in Wilkinson County

WILKINSON COUNTY, GA – Two people lost their lives as a result of a multi-vehicle wreck Monday morning at a highway intersection in Wilkinson County that left two others, including a child, injured, reports 41 WMGT.

The double-fatal incident took place at Georgia Route 112 and U.S. Highway 441, at around 5:20 a.m.

Officials say a white SUV was traveling eastbound on GA-112 when it failed to stop at a stop sign. Moments later, it entered the path of a semi-truck heading southbound on US-441, and the semi hit the driver’s side of the SUV.

The driver and front-seat passenger of the SUV, a couple from Savannah, Tennessee, were pronounced deceased following the crash.

A 7-year-old boy who was restrained in a booster seat behind the driver’s seat was rushed to a Macon hospital in stable condition. He was said to have sustained the fewest injuries, and was reportedly alert and communicating with first responders.

A 43-year-old man who was also in the backseat of the vehicle was transported to a Dublin hospital before being flown to a Macon hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.

No injuries to the semi driver were reported.

An investigation remains ongoing.
