Woman Killed When Box Truck Driver Runs Red Light in Florida

WEST MELBOURNE, FL. – A woman was killed when a man fleeing from a hit-and-run collision ran a red light and struck her vehicle Saturday night, News 6 reports.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at the intersection of Eber and Hollywood boulevards around 6:42 pm. The 26-year-old driver of the box truck was driving southbound on Hollywood Boulevard when he ran the red light and collided with a sedan headed eastbound on Eber Boulevard.

The 67-year-old driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene. The box truck driver was hospitalized with serious injuries. Charges against him are currently pending.

The sedan collided with another vehicle after being struck by the box truck. The vehicle’s occupants suffered minor injuries.
