Teen killed, 2 others seriously hurt in crash with semi near Molino

ESCAMBIA COUNTY, FL — A 17-year-old Arizona resident died Friday night in Molino after a crash involving a semi-truck that left two other people seriously injured, reports Wear News.

The fatal collision unfolded on a span of U.S. Highway 29 at County Road 196. It was first reported at about 8:55 p.m.

An early investigation by Florida Highway Patrol officials indicate a 16-year-old Pensacola resident was driving a Kia Soul eastbound on County Road 196 when she stopped at a stop sign before US-29. Authorities said the driver of the Kia Soul failed to yield to the oncoming traffic while driving across the southbound highway. Moments later, the car collided with a semi-truck.

One of the passengers in the Kia Soul, a 17-year-old boy, died from his injuries at the scene. The Kia driver and another passenger suffered serious injuries and were both rushed to Sacred Hospital.

Authorities said the driver of the semi was not reported hurt.

An investigation remains open and ongoing.
